Initial Seismic Assessment of Buildings Auckland2

Following the seminar series on the Initial Seismic Assessments of Buildings (ISA) in late 2013, NZSEE and the Quake Centre are running one-day workshops around the country.The aim of these workshops is to train engineers in the ISA process using a methodology that leads to nationally consistent results. It is considered that successful completion of the workshop will be the minimum qualification for a Chartered Professional Engineer to undertake ISAs.

Workshops will be led by trained and well-respected local engineers. Each workshop will include:

• Assesment philosophy
• National and local examples
• Commentary on typical potential Critical Structural Weaknesses
• Discussions on the application of the assessment system
• Appropriate reporting.

The workshops will have limited numbers and involve engineers working on real examples in groups to aid consistent application.
